Electrolyte replenishment and maintenance operation for lithium battery packs

The operation of replenishing and maintaining the electrolyte of lithium battery packs should be carried out with caution. The following are the specific steps and precautions:

Operation steps

Preparatory work:

Ensure that the operating environment is dry and clean. It is best to carry out the operation in a dust-free workshop to prevent moisture and impurities from entering the battery interior.

Prepare the necessary tools and materials, such as liquid injectors, liquid injection tubes, liquid injection needles, and special electrolytes, etc.

Wear appropriate protective equipment, such as gloves and goggles, to prevent the electrolyte from irritating the skin and eyes.

Battery handling:

Properly handle the lithium battery packs that require electrolyte replenishment, such as removing the battery casing (if applicable), to access the liquid injection holes.

Clean the interior of the battery (if necessary) :

If there are residues of old electrolyte or impurities inside the battery, appropriate cleaning methods (such as rinsing with anhydrous ethanol or pure water) can be used for cleaning.

Make sure the interior of the battery is clean and tidy to enhance the effect of electrolyte replenishment.

Liquid injection operation:

Connect the liquid injector to the liquid injection tube and insert the liquid injection needle into the liquid injection hole of the battery.

Control the injection speed and slowly inject the new electrolyte into the battery. The injection speed should not be too fast to avoid the formation of bubbles.

Pay attention to the control of the liquid injection volume to avoid either too much or too little. The amount of liquid injection should be determined according to the specifications and design requirements of the battery.

Complete the liquid injection:

After the liquid injection is completed, pull out the liquid injection needle and seal the liquid injection hole.

Leave the battery for a period of time to allow the electrolyte to fully penetrate every part inside the battery.

Follow-up processing:

After the electrolyte has fully permeated, a charging test can be conducted on the battery to check if its performance has recovered.

If the battery performance recovers well, the battery pack can be reassembled and put into use.

Precautions

Electrolyte selection:

Special electrolyte compatible with the battery must be used. Other types of electrolyte cannot be used at will.

Safe operation

Electrolyte is usually corrosive. When operating, be careful to avoid contact with skin, eyes or inhalation of the gas produced by the electrolyte.

During operation, keep away from open flames and heat sources to prevent the electrolyte from burning or exploding.

Liquid injection volume control:

The amount of liquid injection should be strictly controlled. Either too much or too little will have an adverse effect on the battery performance.

Battery status:

Before replenishing the electrolyte, it is necessary to ensure that the battery is in an appropriate voltage state (such as a low voltage state), and avoid operating when it is fully charged.

Waste liquid treatment

Used electrolyte should be treated as waste liquid in accordance with relevant regulations and must not be dumped or discharged at will.
